A Case of Large Interactional Movement of Biliary Stent during Radiation Treatment

Abstract

|
In radiotherapy, fractionated treatment is recommended for maximizing the rapeuticgain between tumor and normal tissue. During radiotherapy,interfractional and intrafractional tumormovement must be minimized for accurate treatment. For the interfractional movement of biliary tree or biliarys tentis not very big in usual case, radiation therapy including IMRT (intensity modulated radiation therapy) can be used to treat biliary cancer after insertion of stent. Author experienced a ampulla of Vater cancer patient whose biliary stent showed 4.92cm interfractional movement in the right to left direction during radiation treatment.
